N.O.R.E. is giving Diddy a run for his money when it comes to name changes. After dropping Noreaga for the acronym N.O.R.E. in the earlier years of his career, seems like N.O.R.E. is ready for another name change. Gearing up for the release of his first official single “Tadow” featuring Pusha T, 2 Chainz & French Montana this weekend, the artist formerly known as N.O.R.E. phoned in to MTV News to reveal his new name P.A.P.I. (Power Always Proves Intelligence):
“Sometimes if you’re lost, the best way to find where you’re at is to go to the beginning. My mother doesn’t even call me Victor, my father has never called me Victor, my teachers didn’t even call me Victor… My name in Lefrak City and my name in Queens is actually P.A.P.I., it’s not even N.O.R.E.”
Listen as N.O.R.E. explains the reason for the change in the audio clip below and look for the single “Tadow” to be released this weekend on Hot 97 along with the accompanied visual to premiere on MTV Jams this Sunday January 6th.
