Nobody likes to read. In the advent of SMS & Twitter, reading long bits of information is so not cool. We’re getting much closer to “Idiocracy” than we know. In an effort to get something read that doesn’t consist of a take-out menu; here’s my 57 word or less recap of each set from Big Boy’s Block Party…here we go!
(UPDATE: Added Power 106′s official recap video)
Tayf3rd: In the interest of full disclosure, I am black. So even though I actually had a prior engagement, my internal CPT override would have probably kicked in anyway…so I missed his set. Daisy & Lenise of Los Angeles told me he was great however. ‘I don’t know why B, but I believe them Yo!
Hit-Boy: Simply put, the boy makes hits (“Ni**as In Paris”, “Theraflu”, “Goldie”). The I.E. representative informed the crowd this was his first performance EVER. Hit-Boy performed a brief set that included songs “Old School Caddy” & “HITstory”. You know what? Not too shabby if I may say myself. Kudos to Hit-Boy!
Nipsey Hu$$le: Neighborhood Nip navigated through a condensed set (with Slauson Boyz Coby Supreme & Rimpau in support) that included the songs “Keys 2 the City, “Young Rich and Famous” off The Marathon, & “I Need That” & “Fly Crippen” off TMC. Nipsey wrapped up his night with “Hussle In The House” to the delight of the crowd.
Big Sean: Let me get this out of the way…Boy! Big Sean hit the stage full of raucous energy. He blazed through a neck breaking set that included “My Last”, “Marvin & Chardonnay”, “Dance”, “24K Of Gold” & “Mula”, off his latest mixtape Detroit. Highlights include Tyga & Kid Cudi appearances. B.I.G closed with a rousing performance of “Mercy”.
Lupe Fiasco: Lupe fans love some Lupe. It was evident by a loyal & energized fan base that came to see the closing act. Lupe, accompanied by a live band, went through hit songs “Kick, Push”, “Superstar”, & “Daydreamin’”. Lupe transitioned through material from his new album Food & Liquor II, “Round My Way”, “Bi**h Bad” included.
Great show all around, as something was provided for all Hip-Hop connoisseurs. No drama, no violence, just good times had by all!
And there you go; the love of reading has officially been restored!
Bonus: Big Sean Performs “I Don’t Like”

Hit-Boy cool, like Mike Will a little bit more but Lupe kills it as always
