Big Sean opened up to AOL’s The Boombox about his upcoming sophomore album, amongst other details surruonding the Detroit MC. Big Sean tells Boombox that Key Wane will serve as the main producer for the album, and hopes to release the first single produced by Wane in June, while Def Jam aims for a September release for the album he describes as “heartfelt”:
“I think this one is definitely gonna be way more heartfelt, I think that the label definitely got to me and was controlling a lot of the first one. They wanted to make sure that I had singles for the radio and all that and I feel like with this one I have a lot more freedom and I’ve learned so much, man. I’ve become a man, I’ve seen so much and I get inspired by people I’ve been running into.”
Big Sean also touched on the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation album and his own mixtape, which will consist of songs that do not make both his solo album & G.O.O.D. Music album:
“They’re great songs too. It’s not like they’re bad songs in any way, but I just wanted my next album to have a sound to it and I finally got the sound I was looking for. It’ll still be music you can live to. I always try and give some inspiration, and give people some music to party to. It’s gonna be all of that in one.”
